1. The Hustle Begins – Selling Eggs on Foot

My entrepreneurial journey didn’t start in a boardroom or with some flashy business plan. It started with a single product eggs and my two feet.I come from a place where opportunities don’t show up often. If you wait for something to happen, you might wait forever. I realized early on that if I was going to build anything, I’d have to start small really small and build from the ground up.At the time, I didn’t have much money. But I had time, energy, and a deep desire to create something of my own. I made a few small pieces of paper with my contact details on them a basic flyer, handwritten at first and started walking from house to house in my community, telling people I was selling eggs. The nearest farm where I could buy them was about two hours away by foot. That didn’t stop me. I would walk all the way there, buy the eggs with whatever cash I had scraped together, carry them carefully back home, and then deliver them to people’s doorsteps. It might sound small to someone else, but to me, it was the beginning of something real. It felt like I was creating my own mini version of Uber except instead of a car, I was walking. No app, no support, just me and my mission. The response from the community was better than I expected.  It felt like I was creating my own mini version of Uber except instead of a car, I was walking. No app, no support, just me and my mission. The response from the community was better than I expected. People started looking out for me. They trusted me, they liked the convenience of getting fresh eggs delivered, and most importantly, they started believing in me. I wasn’t just selling eggs anymore I was building relationships, showing up reliably, and creating value. But this was never just about eggs. My real goal was to raise enough money and gain enough experience to start a layer chicken business of my own raising chickens that lay eggs. I wanted to control the full supply chain: from the farm to the customer. But I knew that to get there, I needed to understand the market, build trust, and learn as much as I could. This is what led me to study poultry farming online. I knew I couldn’t just jump into raising chickens without any skills. So I enrolled in free online poultry courses. I spent my nights watching videos, reading through farming forums, and taking notes. I wasn’t just hustling physically anymore I was also building my knowledge base.At the same time, I started building a chicken house on a small piece of land I had access to. Every nail I hammered into that structure was driven by the vision I had for my future. I didn’t have all the money, so I built it gradually. Sometimes I’d pause for weeks while I saved up for more materials. But I never stopped.Looking back, those days were tough, but they built something in me. They taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and how to turn almost nothing into something. They showed me that I could start where I am, with what I have even if it’s just an idea, some paper flyers, and two strong legs. That phase didn’t just sell eggs it laid the foundation for everything that followed.

Loaded up with nothing but a backpack, trays of eggs, and a dream, this is how I started. Every step I took was powered by determination to make something from scratch, delivering fresh eggs to customers one by one
I began with handwritten notes, hoping people would remember my name. As things grew, I upgraded to printed business cards a small change that made me feel more professional and opened even more doors for my hustle.
To go further, I knew I had to know more. Completing an online course on poultry was a game-changer, giving me the confidence and knowledge to improve my plans and offer better service to every customer.
